    Quarter / Semi-Final results:

6/19 3:44 pm The Dark def Rebels 12-6 log
6/19 3:36 pm !norating def LSF 12-4 log
6/19 2:59 pm StarFire Elite def Happy Mob 10-7 log
6/19 2:40 pm Sterling def Llamas 12-5 log

!norating and StarFire Elite move on to AML Finals, a best of three series. They can opt to play two games this weekend.
Devil's Dad finished 4-1 and 6 FR vs. Rebels. vt died twice in 7:18, wasting all of his four repels.
babaloo racked up 9 FR vs. Llamas

    3pm:
    Assassins vs. The Dark
!norating vs. StarFire Elite game 1.

4pm - or when 3pm slot's games are over... and I set up !nr vs. SFE 2 if they want to play it
    Nguyens vs. Sterling
Potential !norating vs. StarFire Elite game 2.

Pro Finals will eventually work one game 4pm (which I believe most people prefer) - one game minimum (3pm), optional 2nd game - 3rd game if needed. (4pm).

Season 30 will be a fixed schedule.

Now... the twist idea I've been toying with lately is actually adding in like 4-6 slots for squads that we'd form by having "volunteer" people draft players. These players would be allowed to double squad, under aliases that are known. IE. The draft would use the players' current rostered names, then they'd announce which name they want to be added on.
This would either work, fail horribly, look like it might work and then produce no shows, kind of work producing games that people don't try much in. We could give some A1 glory to the highest ranked draft squad at the end.

Let me know what your thoughts on something like that would be.

Like everything else the success of this would be dependant on the people who are participating, most importantly the captains of these squads. So #1, don't let just any asshole captain a draft team.

The only reason I see for this to be viable and the reason it could work and even be a success, is if we announce it to the rest of the subspace community to bring in new players, and force the captains to add players who are not rostered on other squads. So #2 - for every game, force these teams to field atleast 2/4 players that are not rostered on other squads, preferably newbies but since you can't police that simply people who has no current squad. I'd also suggest extending the roster deadline for the draft teams so they can pick up people who try to join mid season.

The roster rules might be looked into anyways. We have a few players who woke up somewhere in round 10 about joining a squad, mostly their old squads, who for some reason axed them. Like... Dingo. (and traxx and blink.

And yes I know it depends on people which is why I'm not all that excited about it since people mostly put little effort in. And yes I'm aware of the captain stuff, league captains in general don't usually seem to be the logical choices...

About getting the word out to other zones and somehow increasing the quota for those players (if we knew we had these people, we could limit existing pilot amount to 5 or so). People on draft squads would have two games, sometimes they would be at the same time, so I didn't really even mock up any player restrictions for these squads yet. Something strict.
It's hard to market something like this as "this is your way to get guaranteed playtime" when even the uhh... "best" captains might not give them any, if they're not forced to

The conflicting times also explain why I randomly came up with a limited number of these squads so that they could all have enough, hopefully active, players to field 4.

P.S. When are you joining the glorious 4v4 staff again? I also want AOL in To my knowledge he's somewhere in the US of A timezones, and his all-seeing eye is around quite a bit.

Summer might be a bad time to test new things... or a good time?? I imagine there will be a lot less people around during summer games (I'm assuming the season will start fairly quickly and be during summer) so if people are double squadding on these drafted teams as well, unless their games are at separate times there might be a lot of no shows. Or maybe people will be around more, I don't fking know. I know I will probably be around less for this next season do to nice weather and better things to do because of said nice weather.

I think it is an interesting idea and might give us some idea for if it will work. I sure wish more people would read the forums. Did more people visit when there were stats?

A draft might actually generate more activity since it would require people to come post on the forum to sign up, etc.

Well, we'd probably not enforce forum registration to sign up to the draft pool. The captains of the draft teams could pick from existing players to the best of their knowledge.

Regardless of draft, we need confirms for returning squads before we have people to even potentially draft from.
I'll create a returning thread tomorrowish, and try to work in a splash-ad for forums, events, or whatever we want for all 4v4 arenas. Similar to that of powerball.

I cannot imagine a draft league without a pool of draftees to choose from. I don't think it would work. Part of the excitement is rating and comparing all the different draft picks. A draft where captains pick from existing players to the best of their knowledge doesn't sound like a draft at all. It just sounds like 5 more squads.

What does that even mean, "pick from existing players to the best of their knowledge?"

Means that the pool will be all the people currently rostered & any extra people who sign up from chaos pub or so. If we get even one of these new guys per draft squad, I'm forcing them to be the first picks of each captain... just cause

We can still have a thread for "I am really interested in this" for a pool to help captains I guess.

Also I think there has to be a max X out of one squad limit. Logically, the captains should know better than to try to pick their own team or every Assassin/Nguyen available due to the players then potentially being tied up elsewhere, but who knows.
                    P.S. Wanna captain? ;P
